Cross Country Skiers possess some the highest VO2 max scores and when compared to other endurance athletes are often rated #1. As part of their training particularly during the summer they will still use their poles when running amongst the mountains and woodlands. We have taken this concept and put together a fitness class that is exciting, fun and demanding.
The addition of the poles means that you will use up to 40% more muscle groups that you would if you were to run without poles. The poles also mean that you can use propel yourself at a much faster speed acting as a form of overspeed training.
This is a must try class, you will never look back once you've tried it.
Nordic Pole Running will build aerobic fitness, strength, agility, stability and much much more.
Classes last an hour in duration during which we will run through a warm up followed by some skill based training. We will then follow this with interval based training on a variety of different terrains.
All classes are held outdoors and on Clifton Downs. The meeting point is half way down Ladies Mile. Look out for the Exercise Bristol Flag Banner.
There is no need to bring anything with you in particular. However if the weather is very hot you might find bringing a water bottle with you might be a good idea (particularly if you sweat heavily when exercising).
